Sara’s Pick: Close to Home by Cara Hunter

A little girl goes missing from a costume party hosted by her parents, celebrating the end of the school year. No one seems to know quite when Daisy was last seen, and as more and more secrets are revealed, it becomes clear thing weren’t as wonderful at her home or with her friends as it would appear at first glance. Her dad is off on construction sites, her mom has not only a desperation to have everything appear perfect all the time, she has her own other issues to deal with, and her brother is bullied at school. The detective assigned to the case is having his own domestic troubles as well and this case resonates with him in a very personal way.  Secrets uncovered bit by bit and nothing is truly clear until the end.
