Too Close to Breathe

Sara’s Pick: Too Close to Breathe by Olivia Kiernan

An apparent suicide by Eleanor Costello that turns out not to be a suicide. Another woman’s death that turns out to be connected to the first through Eleanor’s husband form the framework for this police procedural set in Dublin. On her first assignment back after suffering a serious injury from her last case, Detective Chief Superintendent Frankie Sheehan searches for answers that involve blue paint, a fascination with death, and a snuff film on the dark web while she prepares to testify in the trial of her attacker. The characters are strong and likeable. Hopefully this is the beginning of a series.
