Kathryn’s Pick: milk and honey by Rupi Kaur
This nontraditional take on poetic literature allows the reader to witness the journey of survival though minimalist poetry and art. Kaur creates poems with eloquently flowing line breaks while also captivating her audience in all of the ways traditional poetry would. This collection of poems is separated into four different chapters: The Hurting, The Loving, The Breaking, and The Healing. Milk and Honey helped me through a difficult period in my life and is something I purchased for my home library in an effort to go back to it on the days I need a reminder of its lessons. The poetry in each chapter sunk into my skin like true milk and honey would and I highly suggest this collection to anyone in need of a powerful and inspiring take on life.
