Cori’s Pick: Make Your Bed by Admiral William H. McRaven
In May 2014, Admiral William H. McRaven gave the commencement speech to the graduating class of the University of Texas at Austin. In that speech, he shared the ten principles he learned during Navy SEAL training. In this quick, 125 page book McRaven shares with us those ten lessons and then relates each lesson to experiences throughout his life. This is the kind of book you share with a high school or college graduate that is wondering how they can make a difference. Or a friend going through a rough patch. Or one that you encourage yourself to read when self-pity starts seeping in. Short, to the point, and totally relatable, I encourage everyone to take a moment and read this book! The two biggest takeaways for me, “Quitting never makes anything easier.” and “If you can’t do the little things right, you will never do the big things right.”
