Sara’s Pick: Matchmaking for Beginners by Maddie Dawson
Two weeks into her marriage and Marnie discovers it’s a big mistake. Which is what her soon-to-be-ex, Noah, told her on their wedding day. Then his feisty, matchmaking great aunt Blix passes away, leaving Marnie her brownstone building in New York with the stipulation that she lives there for 3 months. She also hopes that Marnie will take over her matchmaking projects with the use of some magical realism they share. As she settles into her new neighborhood and life, she learns some lessons about love and community. It is a delightful tale of loss and love and funny broken people (the texts from her downstairs tenant Patrick are wonderful). Dealing with Noah being back in her life, a new job at the florist (lots of opportunities for love there!) and some quirky neighbors Marnie comes to realize Blix may have been right after all.
