Sara’s Pick: Cross Her Heart by Meilida Leigh

When Bree Taggert was a little girl, her parents were killed in a murder-suicide.  She and her siblings survived and she promised her little sister to protect her “cross her heart”. But when she gets a distressed call from her sister, she’s not there to protect her, and Erin is shot to death in the home of her ex-boyfriend, Justin. Now he’s nowhere to be found. Bree moves into Erin’s house to stay with her kids while she and Justin’s best friend, Matt, who is worried for his old friend, team up to investigate what happened. Bree and Matt are looking for Justin when the biological father of Erin’s children shows up and wants custody of the children. And there’s a stalker watching Bree that she knows nothing about. It’s a good read with strong female characters. I can’t believe I just discovered this author and can’t wait to read her other books.
