Dallas’ Pick: I Survived True Stories: Five Epic Disasters by Lauren Tarshis

I have read a few different I Survived books, which I do truly enjoy and recommend to most children that come in and say they enjoy historical events. I myself love history so no matter if it is Fiction or non-fiction I have a tendency to pick it up. In this book Lauren goes over five different true events; The Children’s Blizzard of 1888, The Titanic Disaster of 1912, The Great Boston Molasses Flood of 1919, The Japanese Tsunami of 2011, and the Henryville Tornado of 2012. Unlike the fiction books, these stories feature real life people that lived through the events, historical quotes and documents for a more in depth story. My personal favorite was The Titanic Disaster, I absolutely love learning about the Titanic and it was very interesting to learn more information that I had not come across. I also really enjoyed the Great Boston Molasses Flood, I had never even heard of the event before reading this book. I enjoyed learning new information and I think Lauren Tarshis does a wonderful job!
