Just One Damned Thing After Another

Sara’s Pick: Just One Damned Thing After Another by Jodi Taylor

St. Mary’s Institute of Historical Research is a chaotic organization of historians, technicians, cooks, costumers, medics and other support personnel who send the historians back in time to observe and report back on historic events. The pods (don’t call them time machines) always smell of cabbage and chemical toilets and come equipped with electric kettles and tea, because they have to have tea. They are not allowed to bring anything back from the past because it could affect the future (and History takes a very dim view of that), they never leave anyone behind, and something always goes wrong. This is the first book in a series full of comedy, historical accuracy, friendship, betrayal and whatever eles the author could include. It’s a very enjoyable read.
