Sara’s Pick: Magpie Murders by Anthony Horowitz
Alan Conway is a disagreeable, but popular mystery author whose books are set in the English countryside. A cleaning lady dies in an accident (or was she pushed?), the lord of the manor is murdered, his Roman antique coins and jewelry are stolen … Then Alan dies after a fall from the tower at his home, and his editor is suspicious about his supposed suicide. She solves his murder and the mystery of the missing chapter of his new manuscript. A novel within a novel, very reminiscent of Agatha Christie (whose novels Alan uses as references books). A fun read.
