Sara’s Pick: The Garden of Small Beginnings by Abbi Waxman

A young widow who illustrates books for a living is asked to take a gardening class in preparation for illustrating a new book for her publishing house. She includes her 2 young daughters and her sister and meets an eclectic group of people who soon become friends. It is hysterically funny and yet poignant as she deals with small children, a quirky sibling, her caustic mother and the ever present grief over the loss of her husband.
