Sara’s Pick:Idyll Threats by Stephanie Gayle
Thomas Lynch moves to Idyll, Connecticut from New York City to become police chief after his patrol partner is killed. There isn’t much crime in the small town until a young girl is shot on the golf course in the middle of the night. He saw her before she was shot, so the case should be easy to investigate. But if he admits where and when he saw her, he would be outed as gay. So he has to solve the case and keep his secret intact. Thomas is a complex character, who accepts himself but isn’t sure about the citizens in the small town. So he dances a fine line of steering the investigation without giving himself away. The second in the series, Idyll Fears, is just as good.
